Tracking

Tracking brings you to the very essence of what a dog is. AKC Tracking is a canine sport that demonstrates a dog’s natural ability to recognize and follow a scent and is the foundation of canine search and rescue work.
It is a mentally stimulating and confidence-building activity that trains dogs to hone their natural scent instinct and which fosters working relationships between the dogs and their handlers. Just about any dog can learn to track Dogs who participate in tracking earn titles by accurately following a scent trail through varying terrains and finding hidden articles along the way. The more advanced the title, the more difficult the trail.

Tailwaggers holds Intro Sessions once or twice a year, usually during the summer. Tracking practice is ongoing and is usually held on Saturdays in Port Saint Lucie. If you are ready to tap your dog’s keen sense of smell for a fun activity, contact our  tracking coordinator.
