
Agility Basics -Prerequisites: Basic Obedience class and / or sit, down, come, stay or Instructor Approval. This class can be taken in conjunction with /or after Awareness and Conditioning Class objectives: clicker training, play/tugging, targeting, sphinx down on table, left and right (1 a 2 method), tandem turns, front and rear crosses on the flat, sit-stay and down-stay proofing, work with one jump, side, shaping, stretching. Once Agility Basics and Awareness and Conditioning is completed, handler and dog should be ready for Contacts/weaves and Jump Handling 1.
Awareness & Conditioning – BLUE LEVEL CLASS Prerequisites: Basic obedience, CGC, and / or sit, down, come, stay or Instructor Approval. This can be taken in conjunction with Agility Basics. Class objectives: This class will begin working with chute/tunnel, low jumps, table, teeter bang game, and table to table work, recalls, balance and rocker board, disc work, bosu ball, figure 8 ladder, backing up, stretching. Once completed along with Agility Basics, handler and dog can progress to Contacts/Weaves and Jump Handling 1.
Drive, Motivation and Recalls – Prerequisites: Basic Obedience class and / or sit, down, come, stay or Instructor Approval. This class can be taken in conjunction with /or after Awareness and Conditioning and Agility Basics. Dog must understand targeting and have worked with a wobble board, understand shaping and have some food and/or toy drive. Class objectives: This class will focus on how to build drive and motivation that is an important foundation component.
Reliable Recalls – Prerequisites: Basic Obedience class and / or sit, down, come, stay or Instructor Approval. This class can be taken in conjunction with /or after Awareness and Conditioning and Agility Basics. Class objectives: Dogs will learn to come the first time called and become proficient with reliable recalls. A reliable recall is not only a must for your dog’s safety but a must skill for advanced classes in obedience and agility.
Foundation Ground Games for Agility-Prerequisites: Basic Obedience/Awareness and Conditioning or Instructor Approval These games work on focus and impulse control are mostly done on the “flat” (on the ground and don’t involve equipment). The can be done at anytime and anywhere and include interactions in your home, on walks, in class or while watching TV on the weekends. Every game will enhance your agility experience, contributing to a solid foundation in your dogs’ performance career. This is a class for puppies, young adults and older dogs that can use a refresher.
Contacts and Weaves- GREEN LEVEL CLASS Prerequisites: Basic Obedience class, Awareness and Conditioning and/or Agility Basics or Instructor Approval. Dog must understand targeting and have worked with a wobble board, understand shaping and have some food and/or toy drive. Can be taken with Handling jumps. Class Objectives: Contacts: this class will introduce travel plank work, 2 on/2 off end behavior, review of teeter bang game, contact release work, correct approach and exit of contact obstacles to and from other obstacles (jumps and/or tunnels). Weaves: dog and handler will be introduced to several weaves training methods; 2×2 weaves, channel and chute weaves with guide wires. Dogs will learn how to approach and exit weaves to and from other obstacles (jumps and tunnels). After handler/dog team have successfully completed Contacts and Weaves and Handling Jumps, then can sign up for Novice Handling.
Handling Jumps I – GREEN LEVEL CLASS Prerequisites: must have taken and passed Agility Basics, Awareness and Conditioning or Instructor Approval. Dog must have some food and/or toy drive. This class may be taken simultaneously with Contacts and Weaves. This class is designed for dogs new to agility that have just completed Agility Basics or permission from instructor. Handlers will learn about the different jump height in the agility organizations and dog will be measured. Dogs will be taught jump value, lead outs, transitions (accelerations and decelerations), handler/obstacle focus, warm up jump exercises, 180’s, 270’s, pinwheels, serpentines, threadles, lateral lead outs, front-rear-blind crosses, angled jumps, triple, panel, double, spread jump with handling crosses, winged jumps, introduction to distance work. After the handler/dog has successfully completed both Handling Jumps and Contacts and Weaves they can sign up for Novice Handling.
Handling Jumps II- GREEN LEVEL CLASS Prerequisites: This class is designed for dogs that have completed successfully Handling Jumps 1 or instructor Approval Class Objectives: In Handling Jumps II, Handler/Dog teams will progress with more challenging jump sequences and work on speed and accuracy. After the handler/dog has successfully completed both Handling Jumps and Contacts and Weaves they can sign up for Novice Handling.
Intermediate Jumpers – GREEN LEVEL CLASS Prerequisites – must have taken Jumpers II or have instructor approval Class Objectives: Handler/Dog teams will progress with more challenging jump sequences and work on speed and accuracy.
Novice Handling – PURPLE LEVEL CLASS Prerequisites: Agility Basics. Contacts and weaves. Handling Jumps or Instructor Approval In this class, we will break down full courses into pieces to work on handling techniques to add skills to the handler’s toolbox and then run full courses. Dog should be familiar with all agility equipment, have excellent recall, and be ready to run full courses. Remedial obstacle training will not be taught during this class.
Advanced Handling – ORANGE LEVEL CLASS Prerequisites: Novice Handling or Instructor Approval
Excellent / Masters Handling – GREY LEVEL CLASS Prerequisites: Handler/Dog team must be competing at the Excellent / masters Standard Level or have Instructor approval. This class is designed to push you out of your comfort.
Specialty Classes (Also includes Rear Cross, Front Cross, Tricks, Crate Games, Impulse Control, Proofing, USDAA Games (Gamblers, Snooker), AKC Games (Fast, T28) Agility with a Twist, Reliable Recalls, Start Line Stays etc)
Fun with Weaves- GREEN LEVEL CLASS Prerequisites: This class is open to puppies and adult dogs who have completed Basic Obedience class and Awareness and Conditioning and have instructor Approval. Class Objectives: This is a fun class where dogs are familiarized with the weaves while not stressing their bodies. Dogs must be food or toy motivated and go/send to a bait bag, toy or food bowl. Be prepared to have a lot of fun and have tired dogs at the end of the class, Please bring a crate, water, treats, bait bag or toy and a rested and hungry dog.
Agility Practice – PURPLE LEVEL CLASS No specific level but dogs need to know all equipment and be sequencing; no remedial obstacle training will be done. Will work on handling, start line stays, weaves, contacts and other little surprises.
Skills, Drills and Mental Workout – PURPLE LEVEL CLASS To get the max out of this class dogs must be proficient on all equipment (there will be no remedial obstacle training). Handlers will learn how to act quickly when things don’t go as planned on course. We’ll be working short and different type of drills where handlers reactions to mistakes and being under pressure will be tested.
Agility Games – PURPLE LEVEL CLASS In this class we will work on handling challenges with each week being a different game. Prizes and laughs awarded. No specific level required but dogs need to know all equipment and be sequencing. No remedial obstacle training will be done. Fun, positive attitude required.
